What is Visual Testing (VT)?
Visual testing is a non-destructive method used to detect surface imperfections in materials. It can reveal most types of surface defects such as cracks, porosity, corrosion, wear, and grinding marks. Additionally, visual testing helps to evaluate the geometrical shape of a part, including weld reinforcement height, thickness, and surface positioning.

Visual testing is performed using simple measuring tools such as vernier calipers, gauges, rulers, magnifying glasses (up to 20x magnification), and mirrors for hard-to-reach areas.

Although visual inspection is relatively simple, it must be performed according to technological instructions to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Why Choose Our Visual Testing Course?
Our Visual Testing course will teach you the essential skills needed to perform accurate inspections and detect surface defects efficiently.

In this course, you will learn:

  • Principles of visual testing and how to use basic tools effectively.
  • Techniques for evaluating geometrical shapes and surface positioning.
  • Best practices for conducting visual inspections in various industries.

Advantages of Visual Testing:

  • Fast and easy: Quick to perform and results are immediately visible.
  • Provides detailed information: It gives extensive insight into the condition of the material.
  • Cost-effective: Does not require expensive equipment.
  • Easy to repeat: Inspections can be easily performed again for consistency.

Disadvantages of Visual Testing:

  • Limited to surface imperfections: Only defects on or near the surface can be detected.
  • Sensitivity to small imperfections: Defects smaller than 0.1mm may not be detected.
  • Human factor: Individual vision capabilities can affect the accuracy of the inspection.
